New camera recommendation...

If you're in the market for a digital camera I can wholeheartedly recommned the Canon powershot G2. It's 4.0Mp which is really about all you need. It comes with an AC adaptor so you've always got power when you need it. That adaptor also recharges the memory free Li-Ion battery pack inside the camera. It comes with a cool wireless remote when you wanna impress the other techies. It has a hot shoe to add an external flash and you can add wide angle, macro, and telephoto lens to it. Add to that wonderful online support from Canon and you've got a winner. I got mine used for $528 CAN with all taxes and shipping included from a major camera shop in Toronto. It looks like it's never been used.

Mike,

That sounds like a lot of digital camera for the price. Hope it serves you well. I've got an advanced entry level 1.3Mpixel Olympus and unfortunately it developed a dead pixel in the very center of the CCD field which puts a blue line from it to the edge of the frame on every picture I take. I use it anyhow and just put up with it but I'd like to replace it someday.

Hey Rob when you finally sell some of that gear you're building go checkout Henry's in Toronto or shop there online. Their products and customer service are top notch. It was shipped to me in 1 day for less than the gas to go pick it up.

are you using the smallest setting for the pics. for example mine has 4 or 5 but i use the smallest so that they arent smooshed up and waaay to big for use on the internet etc.

Haoleb I always take my pics at the highest res and then just resize them to 800X600 or crop them later. Do you find the above photo too big?

Mike

it is a little bit big. I cant tell if her face is distorted or if thats just the way she looks. but i have my monirot set on 800x600 so everything is also a bit bigger than it has to be.
