New cart for old tt?

Brother just started his audio pleasures again and picked up a Pioneer sx9000 receiver and a cheaper Technics sl b280 tt.
It has a Technics P34 cart on it an I want to know what I can replace it with for about 100.00 or so.Or can I just replace stylys?

Try cleaning stylus before replacing it, quite a few owners who didn't properly clean their records stopped using their table when sound quality deteriorated from a junked up stylus with relatively low hours.
