New Dial Pointer Lamp burnout

Have you ever replaced the dial pointer lamp only to see it burn out right away?
The unit is a 2215B, I am sure that the replacement lamp is correct.
The voltage to the dial pointer does not seem to turn off in other function modes like non AM/FM

Incandescent, I don't think a led is available for the dial pointer

What is the meaning for nope? This light is always on?

I was answering your question. I have never seen a bulb burn out right away. I was wondering if a regular LED was just soldered onto the wires as that would blow up right away as there's no current limiting. Those wires carry 8 volts AC. You might want to check with AK lamp specialist @dgwojo for a bulb.

I got 9.1 V AC at AM and FM, 3.0 V AC at Phono and AUX. That doesn't really look that wrong.
I already have a new bulb, maybe it was just a fluke

They do make LED bulbs with long leads that fit these dial pointers. I have put them in many units. I used to get them in bulb kits from Randy at irebuildmarantz.com. But he no longer sells light kits. If you replace the input select indicator lights with LEDs, the pointer needs to go LED to match the white. If you leave the input select bulbs incandescent, then the pointer looks better incandescent.

The dial pointer is only on for AM & FM. Those two ground one of the dial pointer lamp wires. The other is always connected to 8Vac. If using an LED for the dial pointer you'll need to remove the wire to the AC supply and rewire to a resistor (often 3.3-3.9K for the warm white Cree LEDs I use) and then to the +13Vdc power supply. Sounds like you have it under control, I just wanted to let anyone reading this know a proper way to make the conversion.

Check to make sure the wiring matches the schematic. I had a 2230B where one of the wires for the Stereo lamp was soldered to the wrong post and I believe to ground. It was always on so it burned out. It was supposed to be soldered one post over where the wire from I believe the Signal Strength meter was soldered. When I moved it to the right post, it worked as intended.

On the big auction site they sell a led dial pointer replacement with the resistor built-in. It comes as part of a kit with the other bulb replacements, but it's a pretty reasonable price.

I think that must be the same as the one I got from Randy. I didn't use a resistor and they worked fine with no flicker.
