Wahoo!! I just got my new TD-125 plinth from local AKer Divotdog. She's a beauty, simple design MUCH more elegant than the old stock plinth!

Don't look at that nasty shelf it's on, Divotdog had nothing to do with it :D

The first thing I noticed listening to Louis Armstrong was how much tighter the bass was. I always thought my Forte's did a pretty decent job in the bass department but they are better now!

I don't know if it is a result of the tighter bass or just my imagination, but it seems like the instruments are a little more defined and the background seems a little quieter, but those could just be me. The bass however is much different.
 
Thanks guys, I too am curious as to whether or not there is any sonic improvement. This was a departure from my normal sand filled plinth construction, Bill wanted something a little more traditional looking so I went with a veneer over MDF construction, we still added considerable weight and rigidity to the assembly.

Looks like we better doctor up that shelf before too long. :D
 
Well I listened to it for most of the evening last night and spun up some nice Brubeck this evening to relax after the week. I am not imagining the quieter background, the weight and solid construction of the new plinth has helped deaden some resonances or something like that to give it better presentation. I think that is why I was thinking the instruments sounded more defined it was because the background and groove noise that I was used to had been reduced.

Just amazes me how small differences can affect the sound so much. The old plinth was ugly and the veneer was peeling off, I just wanted a nicer looking TT. Now I have both a nice looking and upgraded sound TT! Two birds with one stone :banana:

Who knew :D
