New dollar records in SF,CA

bunch of new stock dollar records at the sf amoeba if anybody is interested. today i got a bollywood record (pretty beat, but figured worth it), some namibian record, talk talk record and a good techno record.
lots and lots of 00s punk/punk-metal or something - which is why i'm posting; it isn't the usual mix of not-that-good-classical, 80s country, etc. - as a tip to people in the area. i am the world trade center split 12" with somebody else that i've alreay forgotten. astor piazzola . . . other stuff that i have no idea if it is good or not.

anyway, unusual for that many to show up in the dollar bin, so i thought i'd share. happy hunting.

(p.s. - don't call them and ask if __________ in there - that's rude and and takes hours to try to answer for you. i don't work there anymore . . . but when i did ppl would call with the strangest requests.)

LOL, the pickings have been better at Mod Lang and Down Home Music too. Well for me and extremely local too.

Amoeba's are a wonderful hopeless mess of inventory. At the SF store many times I have pulled nicer and cheaper albums from below the bins in the overstock so it pays to look there too.

yeah, the benefit of that is, if you want to dig and you know stuff that the pricers don't - sometimes you can find things much cheaper than they are worth

but it is very time consuming

I like to go up to Amoeba in the 'city', as they call it around here, on rainy Sunday afternoons with a ratty pair of jeans on to sit on the floor and flip through the floor bins. Have made some nice finds that way.

...and its in the Haight......:smoke:

Cheers,

David

I was trying to convince the wife to go into the city on saturday to go eat at Ike's. Now I've got another reason to go. Maybe I'll just leave her at home...:D

Yes, right by the Gap

I forgot all about I Am the World Trade Center. That crappy hip-hop album with the flaming towers that came out right before 9-11 got all the press, but those kids were a much more elegantly unfortunate coincidence. That's a nice find for a buck.

i'm not sure if i've even heard them, so i didn't get it.

gap is gone, but there is a whole foods coming.
