Greetings to all Audiophiles,

Many Moons Audio is proud to announce the offering of new optimized driver boards for these highly desirable amplifiers. Built with passion incorporating my vast experience in solid state restorations. These respected amplifiers now reach their full musical potential in a modern world.

The problems:
Original-top.jpg

Components are now decades old. Both intended performance and reliability have diminished.

Outdated, brittle single-sided phenolic circuit board material.

No opportunity for a robust ground plane.

Optimum component placement limited by the single-sided board.

The P-250 had many variants over the years. Earlier versions offered the best sonics. Later versions focused more on specs. The E-202 utilized the final revised version of the P-250, and never saw the earlier variant.

Many Moons Audio solutions:

Taking full advantage of the Accuphase high-end modular construction:

A simple way to update the entire driver section with brand new.

Highest quality fiberglass FR-10 circuit board material.

Double sided with plated thru holes. Signal path is on the bottom. A full ground plane established on the top.

Components placed for an orderly shortest signal path.

Highest grade components with established audio performance.

Circuit is based upon the variant with the best musicality. An improvement path for the spec driven designs.

Pre-assembled and tested, for a simplified board swap upgrade.

The new boards take this amp to a level that I have not heard any other Class A/B solid state amp from the 70's come close to in my experience. The P-250 is my personal amplifier I use in my very own system. With the new boards, it has a special transcending and magical something that I believe creates a lot of value, all things considered. I believe it to be a very resolute amplifier, yet in a very natural way. Pure, clean, open, bold, rich, and noiseless background in the music. It does everything an audiophile desires, yet does not turn on the HiFi brain to distract you from the music at all.

The speaker damping switching is now much more obvious in its changes, and can be a useful tool to optimize the speaker amp handshake.

The new boards should go in working amplifiers, or for you repair guys, can be offered as an upgrade for your rebuilds. Don't assume these will fix a non-working amplifier. The boards will be tested and fully adjusted before sent out, so there is nothing for you to do, other than plug them in and go.

A formal shout-out to Ron Sutherland. His help with the artwork and time to help me make this a reality was invaluable. Thank you Ron!

These new boards are proven across a few entirely different systems, and all with unanimous praise for both the P-250 and E-202. They are offered with a trial of 14 days after receiving them. If you do not wish to keep the boards, send them back in the condition received, and you will be refunded, minus all shipping and fees. Not responsible for damage resulting from misuse or abuse.

Price for a completed pair of boards is $600 shipped CONUS, any form of payment is fine. Will ship internationally for additional shipping costs. Private message me here or contact me through my website to get your very own set!

Thanks very much for your consideration and taking the time to read.
Paul

A comment: My mind is blown that this inferior phenolic PCB was used on an instrument which is of this quality otherwise. Your upgraded fiberglass FR-10 PCB alone is a major reliability and quality improvement to this model. I hope this new driver boards upgrade succeeds and keeps these superb Japanese audio classics making music for many years to come reliably.

How can someone with a P-250 tell if they have an earlier version or a later version?
Did the P-300 also have the same earlier and later variants?

The cut they take is annoying, but you should sell these on eBay. I feel like a lot more people would know they existed, (e.g. me) and it's much easier to purchase. It's really nice to have all the new boards to buy there, all the SX-1980/1250/1280 boards by Delta8, the BA312 adaptors, the Kenwood power packs, etc.

It has been considered. I am trying to get a few sets out there so I can point to a place with user reviews for the boards. Then I may go the Ebay route. I have received a couple orders from this ad, so things are getting out there. There is a nice review to read regarding these on the Kenwood/Accuphase section here that is worth checking out.

Hello Paul,
I wrote to you quite some months ago about whether you are considering similar boards for the P300. Thought I would check in and see if that still might happen. Sure would like to get a pair as my amp is missing one of the driver boards.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,

It is still a plan moving slowly forward at this point, and will be some time before that happens.

Are these driver boards still available fort the E-202?

If so, what is the current cost?

Best,
