What did you say???
Just wanted to say howdy from close to Dallas,Texas. I found the site by doing searches for some used audio equipment, using google, and found allot of good information form your knowledgeable members.

40 something and kicked out 2 of the 4 kids, now I have a place to listen to music and money to spend on equipment. Should have done this earlier. :D

So I decided to join, because I know there will be times I need advice.

Thanks for the good site and information. :thmbsp:

Thanks for all of the welcomes.

I have been playing with high end audio equipment from 1980, when I worked in a high end audio store. The store would sell very high end equipment until the oil bust in 82. We sold 6 sets Sony Esprit Systems with a price tag of 35k for the 2 speakers/turntable/amps/and preamp. We also had the very first Sony CD player at $1200. Had a set of speakers that used a hydrogen to drive the plasma tweeter, can't remember the name though.
The problem was I worked there and I couldn't afford any of the good stuff. Now I am trying to re-live my youth and pick up some of the equipment I couldn't purchase back in the day.

Welcome aboard. I thought I would make you feel at home with this DIY speaker cabinet design. I just couldn't help myself after I got the idea in my head. I left out the gravity fed cartridge dispenser.

You need to make it bigger all my guns won't fit :D

If we just move the woofers to a side firing position, and increase the height to six feet... I think we could get 14 guns on a pair of gun rack speakers :D

I am sure that if anyone built a pair, the photos would go around the world as email attachments.

I remember the days of plasma tweeters. They never let me get close enough to listen to any of them though... I will try to remember what they were called, assuming that any of them were the same brands you sold.

The second hand market is fertile ground. The only thing I own now that I had to buy new was my amp. If you know what you are looking for, and do not have a taste for the well known brands (Nakamichi, Linn etc.) you can get most things really cheap. Cheap is subjective... Affordable considering the bank account crippling prices that many items sold for when they were new. I myself have always wanted a Nakamichi CR7 or a Dragon. Because of their continued popularity, I do not think I will ever pay what some well heeled people are willing to pay for them.
