Hello, I'm new here and while searching what to get I was almost everytime rediricted to this community...so..here's my situation. My father in law gave me his Technics sb-k45 speakers...I do know they are not high end but I like the vintage look....here's my dilemna...I cannot decide what to choose between an amp/tuner to go with those speakers...

SHOULD I spend a little more to have a Marantz 2230 + IMF super compact speakers + sansui sr-4040c turntable...1000 USD$
OR
For less $ Sansui 661 + KEF C series + thorens TD 110...for 700$ usd

or stick to sansui g4500..or .

I mostly listen rock and classic music while working...

There are so many possibilities...

Welcome to AK! I do like me some Sansui, but from your list I would go with the SX636. Recently sold a refurbish unit and it is a respectable 25 watt unit. The purchaser lives in a condo and drives efficient speakers. He was very happy. Good luck in your search.

While I agree that the Pioneer SX-636 is a good entry level receiver, I believe you would pretty quickly get tired of it. I’ve had two of them and enjoyed them both. But, the key word is had. The NAD 3020. I won’t ever get tired of it. It’s definitely a keeper and there is one on the big auction site right now for three hundred twenty nine bucks. I’m (even though I don’t need it, seriously thinking about getting it. It will drive your efficient, and inefficient speakers and the sound it produces is just magic to my ears. Just my 02 cents.

Welcome! I like Technics speakers. For my ears, I'd pair them with a warmer sounding receiver, either the Sansui G4500 or the Kenwood 4600. But you can't go wrong with any of the ones you mentioned.
