Few details... apart from "super steel", whatever that is. Is it a simple knife-edge, as in the classic old SME arms? Or the "double knife-edge" as used by SAEC (which had less free-play while handling)? Or is it a revolutionary new application of the old principle? Will diagrams, or internal photos, be made available — or just the "glamour shot" of the external bearing assembly? Hard to make an informed decision based on Zero real information.
There's no doubt knife-edge provides less friction in vertical motion than conventional bearings, thus less deflection of the stylus/cantilever (aka distortion) when riding a warp — and no LP is "perfectly" flat even if it looks so to the eye... unless vacuum hold-down or peripheral ring are used, remedies that are rare, expensive, and bring their own new problems.
I'll definitely want this new tonearm, it has other desirable features. But not if Jelco keeps the most important detail (namely, how does the arm move?) "top secret". Manufacturers usually brag about their brilliant innovations, not hide them — maybe the bragging (and the details) will come soon...
