New life, new home, new system

jhoyt

Incomprehensible space llama
We're settling into our new life in the Wichita, KS area, where finally I have a decent place for a system! It is mostly new to me since my last setup at our home in Nevada, with a few well-loved "leftovers".

The Veterans:
  • Turntable: Pioneer PL-L1000 (mass added to plinth)
  • CD Transport: Sony DVP-NS900V (audio stage mods)
  • Streaming Transport: Logitech Squeezebox Classic
  • Tuner: ADC T-200 (audio stage mods)

The Newcomers:
  • Cartridge: Panasonic EPC-451C (Strain Gauge cart)
  • Phono Preamp: Custom strain gauge interface by Pio1980
  • DAC: Schiit Bifrost
  • Integrated Amp: Cayin A-50T (Cap upgrades by Sonance'84)
  • Tubes: Reflektor 6P3S-E, Hitachi 12AX7A, RCA clear-top 12AU7
  • Speakers: DCM TimeFrame 600
  • Equipment Stand: Ikea LACK

Notes:

  • Sitting in the "sweet spot" is achieved by moving my chair (Ikea POÄNG, not seen in photos) onto the area rug. Not the greatest solution, but it works. However, today I came downstairs to find a large coffee table on the area rug...so we'll see. Still a fun system to listen to.
  • The speakers are up on 3" concrete paver risers.
  • The "paintbrush" set on the power conditioner is a DIY record dry-cleaning brush.
  • MOG and SomaFM (via Squeezebox) are my primary music sources, with CD and LP behind them.

Nice bit of kit you have there and I really like the hardwood floors and the molding/trim. That looks like a very comfortable room in which to enjoy your system.

Thanks. The house is around 100 years old, and the hardwood floors are original. The owner (we're renting) told us that they're Douglas Fir. What's amazing is that some of the flooring strips are 10-12' long! It really has a wonderful glow. The woodwork is one of the main things that attracted us to this house.

My wife keeps trying to put the couch there, too. I have to move it three times a week on average.

/ It's a new dawn / It's a new day / It's a new life / For me / And I'm feeling good!!::banana:

Congrats! Nice setup. I also like MOG as one of my main music sources.

I second the welcome to Kansas. Your system reminds me how much I have yet to learn about audio. Well done sir.
