New Mcintosh setup. Need recommendations

I am new to this site and need some help. I am setting up a new surround sound system and would also like to add multi room audio. I am leaning to all Mcintosh components except speakers. I am in-between a new mx122 or a used mx151. I am also looking for recommendations on amp set up. I am considering a 2 channel amp for the fronts, a 3 channel for surround and a separate 8 channel or similar for multi room setup. Also, i know speakers are a lot about personal taste but looking for recommendations on fronts and surrounds. I appreciate all help and recommendations, thank you!!

A 122 will allow you to do Atmos and all the latest including 4K. The MX 151 won't. What 151 will do is room perfect and allow you as many inputs as you have connector analog pairs and as many digital inputs. I am using 14 inputs. . I don't need 4K yet and I don't believe in ATMOS its just another gimmick, like 3D. 4K displays are nice with brighter picture and increased grey scale. So plug your player directly in to the display and send the sound to the 151. Remember all Dolby digital formats are backward compatible. I'm still surprised how good my 151 sounds. Its easily better than my C-29 and 34 stereo pre-amps and way better than my MX 119 and MX 120's. The clarity in the bass is much superior in the HT modes.. There is a difference inbound between the balanced analog and digital inputs with a 120 and 119, not so with the 151. Whether I use the digital or analog out puts of my 861 or 891 the sound is the same. Using the digital feed from my MP 100 to the 151 the stereo sound of LP's easily equals or surpass the MP 100 feed ing the C-34 using analog outputs to the same front speakers. Some of Mac's updates for the 151 will kill the tone controls, so I went back to the original. I don't stream off the internet. Yes I use Apple TV and iTunes and the 151 clears up both compared to the 119 and 120. You can save a ton of money if you can find a good 151. Remember there is a new MX 162 coming this fall. $$$$$. I bought my 151 from Audio Classics pre-owned. I wanted back-up and a proven record of customer satisfaction.

Save even more. Pick up a MX150 and load update on firmware gibs you MC151 features. Room Perfect and active cross overs make biamping or dual subs a possibility. Besides ATMOS Dolby digital plus can be a challenge from some streaming sources but you can always just use Dolby Digital. TRUHD sources are incredible.
