Hi all Happy new year!

I’ve joined your group 1. because it has the coolest name! and 2. I was so happy to read the long 2010 thread about vintage equipment and how much you all enjoy and recommend it. Hoping to learn lots about this incredible technology! So many brands and pitfalls. Never looked into it until now, price and convenience was the priority. Vintage is what I love in all things and can afford Just a little scared after reading Sony used glue even in the power supply and it fails/melts/degenerates?

I am very techie but find streaming apps annoying, their algorithm randomly changing my list etc. I really missed hearing uninterrupted hours of my CD collection….. So in 2025 stepping into my first component setup - a stylish totally cool retro silver Sony 5 CD player on shuffle and a reconditioned Silver Sony DB940 Receiver, no glue model, and custom added Bluetooth OMG how cool is that and it’s out for delivery…..

Be glad to know what small budget speakers I should look out for - probably on eBay UK. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the AK Crew.

Glad to have you
come on board.

And, looks like you've
taken the "leap" into
audio, up-loading
data/input/feedback.

Taking your time is
a good thing.

As per the the "speakers"
you are looking for...
spend some time in
the Forum dealing with them,
and make use of the
"Search" option...
(upper right hand corner).

Welcome !

Aloha, Denise, from sunny Florida! If you want to geek out on some audio gear and meet some of the most helpful folks on the web, you're in the right place!

Welcome aboard! I am running a vintage silver Sony STR-V4 receiver and I use a set of Sony book case speakers and sub that I got at a good price from Amazon! They are Sony SS-CS5 Fronts & Sony SA-CS9 Sub and they really sound good with my old receiver...they may be a great match for yours too! At any rate, welcome to AK!
