New member with a Pioneer SX727 problem

Hi every one, im a new member of AK and also im new in the high-audio world. Im from mexico city. Please forgive my english, I hope you will be able to understand my problem.

About a year ago I got a Pioneer SX727 in mint condition, everything was working ok until a month a go. The problem is that the left chanel of the speakers goes off from time to time, I have discover that if a give a little "push" on the cabinet, or power off and on the sound in the left chanel appears again, but im sick of this problem.
Reading some other threads I found some one have a similar problem in another Pioneer Receiver and some of you recommend to check if ir were como "cold solder joints". Could be the same porblem with my Receiver? Exactly what i must look for and how can I fixit. Hope some one could help me.

There are several possibilities:
1. a dirty control or switch - cleaning requires a chemical called deoxit which loosens the corrosion inside the switch so when the switch or cointrol is repeatedly actuated the loosened corrosion is scrubbed off, and a follow up chemical called faderlube that replaces the loast lubricant in the volume and tone controls after the deoxit is used.

2. there is a "protection relay" inside, which connects the speakers to the amplifier circuits when it is safe. This relay's contacts could be dirty or burned. It is either replaced (difficult) or opened up and the contacts cleaned with mildly abrasive paper like emery paper( almost as difficult).

3. a loose wire or connection inside of the unit.

The problem must be attacked in the order I have described, plus these have the most likely causes first.

Now i will buy the Deoxit but it seems by a quick search on the web that its no so easy to find here. So i will buy it from e-bay but that supose almost a month of wait. can I use another chemical or try to do something pre deoxit cleaning.
I forgot to say that I have see is in the bass knob where I have to "tap" for the sound to come again.

sounds like a dirty switch to me. If it takes a month to get deoxit, you could just try to find a realllllll good quality electronic cleaner while you are waiting. Deoxit is by far the most highly recommended. If you use something else, be careful not to get it on everything as some have been known to melt plastic
