New old guy here - looking for info on refoaming speakers

After a lot of procrastination I’m reorganizing my antique radio display room to provide enough room to set up a vintage, all vacuum tube, sound system. I still have some equipment I got back in the 60’s and 70’s including four of the large Advent speakers that I ran as stacked Advents . I’ve been using a couple of them but all 4 need to be re-foamed. . I also have a set of Optimus Pro X77 speakers that I’d like to use elsewhere and one of them also needs to be re-foamed.

I was a technician then an EE (now retired) and have been working on hardware for well over 50 years so I done a lot of stuff but never re-foamed any good speakers, SO, to get to the point, I’m planning to work on the Optimus speaker first to see what it takes and I’m looking for some feedback and suggestions as to the best place to buy the parts I’ll need. I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who’s repaired the woofers in Advents.

Check Geoaliwill on sleazebay for foams.

Refoaming:

Clean old
Cut dust cap
Shim
Glue to cone
Glue to frame

Use Aleenes glue.

Any more specific questions, I'll be glad to answer.
 
Yeah, Rick Cobb unless he doesn't have the particular ones you need. He sends you a test tone for centering the voicecoil and on about 90% of the drivers I have done, that is all I have needed.
 
I followed the Simply Speakers video on the Original Large Advent refoam and it went perfectly smooth and only took an hour. Easy as pie.
