Vintage Bert
Opinions my own, except those of the Mothership!
Was a great speaker week, started with finding a pair of Boston Acoustics a150's in the alley at work, ordered a foam kit from our favourite seller here at AK (subtle plug) and they are under way.
Today when I got home there were a pair of sun bleached old speakers at my front door with my neighbours business card on them. Unlabeled, heavy and intriguing I brought them in and began my investigation. No obvious connectors anywhere... weird... flipped em over found a hole and wire, still not obviously promising. Robertson screws on the back suggested "canadianna" so began disassembly...
Inside was mint! Took some sleuthing but it was about the biggest Isophon driver I had ever seen and in spotless condition. I think I have id'd them correctly and now am hooking them up for a listen.
Will update post sonic test.. but here are some pics..
oh.. and the third super lucky... while taking them apart got a call wondering if I wanted some old "advent speakers" about 3 feet tall and really old.. another neighbour downsizing... a really great week indeed...

Listening to them now and first impression... pretty awesome, along with about the most efficient speakers I have ever owned. They are running through what looks like 18-20 guage standard speaker wire off of my Sonneteer Bronte Amp and I am running them at just above volume off for comfortable "quiet" listening (kids in bed). Will give em a turn up tomorrow. The full digital set-up with no balance/tone adjustment options and Dianna Krall is doing them justice...or wait.. I believe that is truly the other way around!
