New Parasound vs. older Parsound

Right now I've got a Parasound PL/D 2000 preamp (former top of the line) and a pair of HCA 1200II amps. I was wondering how the newer P3 preamp and the A23 amps are in comparison. I've read that the A23's are similar to the old killer HCA 2200II's so they'd probably be a step up from my 1200II's but is the P3 as good as my old PL/D 2000? Anybody compared these?

I have an A23 and it is indeed a great amp but, I've not compared it as you requested.

I haven't compaired them either but the new gear from Parasound looks really nice.

I happen to chat with "the man" (Richard Schram) on occasion so I asked him. Reply as follows:

Your friend's equipment is just fine.
The A 23s are more sophisticated than the older 1200s, but they are rated at
125w/ch i/o 200w/ch. I don't like bridging them because their 2u chassis
will get warm. I'd suggest your friend waits until he can buy an A 21 or
pair of JC 1s. The P 3 is an IC-based circuit, whereas the P/LD-2000 is
discrete. He should keep the P/LD-2000 until he can afford the new JC 2,
which will be considered among the great preamps of all time.

Hey, thanks for the info. I just realized while reading his response that I screwed up my model numbers and meant the A 21's, not the A23's. I guess I should keep my stuff for now and maybe look into a pair of A 21's and a JC2 down the road.

Parasound,,,great stuff..I really like the older all black gear..their preamps are super bargains for what you get...even the lowly 850 sounded great.
