New Polk Monitor 7, what to keep?

Just picked up a pair of Polk Monitor 7 (c rev. with SL2000 -_-) in mint condition -with OG stands *score!* from GW to add to my monkey coffin mortuary of ADS L710, Realistic Electrostat 2A, and Yamaha NS-670.
I just wanted to ask what everyone thinks of those. I've narrowed it to the Polks or ADS, and I know the best speakers are the ones I like, but thought I'd ask the forum opinion.

As an aside, the ADS and Yamaha both had a mid that was out, after getting the polks refurbed, I decided to tackle those. As it turns out, both were easy-peasy. The ADS had a dry soldier on the mid capacitor, and the yamaha had the infamous broken flex coil. both fixed with a touch of the iron.

Haha, I guess I ment what would people have hooked up usually.
The apartment is small, and the neighbors have....delicate ears apparently. I was thinking of putting the ADS on my HTS, but not sure how vintage 6 ohm would be on my new Sony AVR, and I'd be blocking the patio door too haha
.
The only ones I was considering actually parting with were the yamahas

I have the 7's with the Peerless tweet and they sound especially good at low volumes. I will never sell them in case I ever need to downsize to one, small, inexpensive system. Plus, what they bring in the used market will barely pay for a dinner for two at a decent restaurant. I would rather skip a couple meals.

One of thee more popular speakers here at AK . There are tons of threads with all sorts of opinions & thoughts on them. I see you rarely post since you joined in 2013. If your not aware there is a search function in the upper right hand corner, type in "Polk Monitor 7" and hit search.

I've had both, and I prefer the ADS. Both are great speakers. Give it some time and listen to both for a bit if you can.

I've looked thru a lot of those (I search here all the time), on AK and the Polk forum, (helped me figure out what model it was with the less-than-soughtafter non-peerless tweeter), and that's the rub, both the M7 and the L710 seem to have a LOT of great reviews-especially within respective ADS/polk camps. I find it intersting that for both models, the 7s are rated better than the M10s and the L710 are higher than the L810 or L910s (Maybe 7 is just a lucky numbers ;)
I just wanted to see if anyone else had head-to-head comparasons (thanks bberkom!) and also with the yamaha.

On a side, I hooked the electrostats up, as per the RS trick of using it just with the tweeters, and like the brightness with the Polks.

Upgrade those nasty SL2000 tweeters to the Polk RD0194 and you've just found your new favorite speaker.

Really? The only pair I'm seeing available in my area's currently listed for $425 (with a LOT of modding according to the seller). One hell of a meal, I say.

In my area the 7's are never higher than maybe $125.00!

Maybe the "Mods" are gold plating of some type?

yeah around me the 10's go for a buck to a buck fiddy. The 7's around $75-$100
Yeah, here in DC the 10’s go for $150-200, and the 5’s from $40-150. Never actually saw a pair of 7’s, although I’ll admit I haven’t searched too hard.

Definitely on my bucket list, that’s for sure!

Are the Yamahas not pretty good? It's an honest question. I've never heard that model, but I would have guessed they'd be the best of that bunch.

I think you might be referring to a pair that was re-veneered and totally gone over. They are an exception.

That's the one. They definitely stupendous, and have me thinking about giving my KLH 6's a similar cherry finish (mine are the later iteration with the crappy vinyl cabs). Those'll be my keepers, unless I get my hands on some Polks or ADS!
