New preamp for vintage Denon amp?

My Denon POA 2400a is going strong but my preamp has bit the dust. Looking at vintage and new preamps and the Parasound 2100 caught my eye. Anyone had any experience pairing new pre amps with vintage amps? Curious to if the Parasound would compliment the Denon. Any other suggestions would be great

The preamp will have a big influence on the overall sound. I have a EL84 SEP tube amp that I run with a Kenwood Basic C1 preamp. To me the C1 is real neutral and lets the warm character of the tube amp come through. I've also run it with a Marantz 3200 and a Adcom GTP-500. The Marantz sounded kind of punchy and lacked detail and the Adcom was a little on the bright for my tastes.

Find yourself an equally " Vintage" Denon pre-amp. Freshened up under the hood they are pretty damn nice especially the 5500 and 2500

DAP 5500 PRE/DAC
DAP 2500 PRE/DAC w/Remote
PRA 1500 PRE w/remote
PRA 1200 PRE

Can't get your hands on one of these then an Aragon or Acurus Preamp is a great choice.
I've also used the Parasound Halo P3 with a Denon POA 8200 with excellent results.
