New Record Player

Hi,
I’m hoping someone can help.
I got into vinyl last year after I inherited some of my dads old ones. For christmas, my mum brought me one of those suitcase record players (I know they’re bad now don’t worry!)
I brought new one second hand for £120. I guess I’m just wondering if it’s good? If there’s anything I should know as I’ve never used an amplifier before.
It’s a Sansui Automatic Direct Drive Turntable PD-10 and the amplifier is a Mitsubishi DA-R440.
Any tips would be great especially about getting started/set up!

Congratulations on the upgrade. The Sansui is not a high end model but it's much better than the record grinder you had.

Not all of it might specifically apply but it's a good start. You also should be thinking of a new stylus or cartridge if you don't know the history of it. Perhaps you can find the model name or get better pics?

The Mitsubishi should also be more than adequate. I don't know that model but they made a lot of great gear, most of it earlier than yours but it looks decent.

Speakers? Did you get any?

The guy I brought it off said he recently installed a new stylus (it’s a Technica 270C needle).
I do have speaker! Two Sony SS-A1 speakers.
I managed to get it set up thank you! I did slightly deafen myself setting up the amp (which as it turns out - was on full volume).
It seems to be working ok although I am finding the actual turntable a bit bulky right now but I think I just need a new table for it :)
 
The Sansui PD-10 was the first TT I bought new, in 1983. :)
It's actually capable of some very nice sounds, if I remember the cool blue glow at the front sold it to this shallow person.
Note the bias is preset at 2gm on these (the PD-20 & 30 had a seperate weight in the little 'well' by the side of the arm at the rear). So use a cart which tracks roughly in that area for best results.
I put a Nagaoka MP-10 on it after a year of the original Sansui cart, worked well for me.
The only real problem I had was it could be sensitive to feedback if placed too near the speakers.
