Hello everyone. I am new to this forum, and new to the world of McIntosh. I wanted to put together a small system for my office and I did not want the off the shelf "Made in China" stuff so I decided to look at some vintage equipment. After lots of research I put together the following. A 2105 power amp, a Carver tube CD player, an MR 80 tuner and, after not being able to find a McIntosh preamp in the condition and price that I wanted, a near mint MAC 1900 receiver which I am using as a preamp. The question that I have relates to the 1900. I find that the tuner in the 1900 is as nice, or nicer sounding than the MR 80. Are the tuner and amplifier components of the 1900 specific to the 1900, or did McIntosh take existing separates, ie an MR 74 tuner and existing amplifier, and fit it into a receiver package? Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
