New Sansui for a Marantz Guy

OK. I have 3 Marantz 22XX hooked up to ADS 1290's and L810's.

I have read so much about the Sansui sound, I had to get one. Wanted a 9090 and bid on several of them only to get out bid every time!:thumbsdn:

Found a fully restored 8080 and "pulled the trigger". How will the 8080 compare to the 9090? Maybe I should have waited but the 8080 looked soooo good! And, has anyone had any experience with the Sansui's and ADS speakers?

As far as I can tell my 8080DB sounds the same as my 9090DB. The 8080 will sound much better than most lower wpc Marantzs with ADS speakers.

I can't comment on your ADS, but I know what that receiver can do for a few other models I had it push. And that is to make them sing, IMHO. I've pushed Klipsch (Cornwalls & Heresy's), Polk RTA 12b's, Mach Ones, Aztecs, a quad set of Bose 301's, etc. etc. with either a 9090 or 8080 @ one time or another. To me I was never disappointed with what the x0x0 line of Sansui's delivered to these old ears. I've had a 8080 here in the shop for the last 4 years running 12 hours a day. Other pieces of gear have come and gone, but the 8080 found it a home from day one.

I have 9090DB and that is a great receiver. The difference might be the Dolby option and the power but I guess the sound shoulb be pretty much the same

Can't wait for it to get here. I haven't heard the Sansui in any form so it will be fun to do an A/B with the 2275. Darn, I may have to expand my speaker collection. Always wanted to try the Cornwalls.

The 2275 is my favorite Marantz receiver. Depending on your preference it will and can give the 8080 a run for it's money.

This is so much fun!!! I have recently got back in to audio gear having left this passion 30 years ago. I forgot how much fun it is and the total enjoyment of it all! I find myself not caring too much about the music but listening to the dynamics of the sound on good stuff! Of course, the vintage stuff just seems to me to be better. Nostalgia, i guess.

I have an 890DB which is the Euro version of the 8080DB and is a great amp, reveneer the case which will make a big difference in the eye candy mode and then pick up a G9000 or G8000 to make the collection complete. And then, will you know it goes on and on:D

Hope to get it next week and will post the results. I have also looked at the G series, 8000 and 9000. They are BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm sure I'll be adding one of them to the collection.

I had a Sansui 9090 running with some ADS L 810s. It was a awsome combo. I do not see how it could sound much better. I traded it for a AU 8500. I now run the AU 999 with the L 810s and have a Audire Forte amp to up the power some. I love the ADS sound. I think with the 8080 it will be unreal.
