I've been working on the dbx board in my Team C-3RX cassette deck. The decoder has horribly distorted output when dbx is switched on. For the past few weeks, I've been using a borrowed oscilloscope to help determine the bad component(s). After being shown how to use it and how useful it can be, I decided to get my own. Yesterday, I picked up an HP 64645A in really nice condition. This one is digital, and I've been using an old analog unit. I was concerned it'd be more confusing with menus vs all separate knobs, buttons, and toggles. The seller has a business buying, repairing, refurbing, and selling test equipment and has quite a few to choose from. I wanted a unit that was easy to use, and this is what he recommended (he used them when in school). He was right; this is really easy to use! I can tell it's going to be very handy with some of the stuff I've got that needs a bit of attention. It's got so many useful features such as cursors to mark points to measure, storage, etc. One of the more useful features is pictured here:
