Finally i scored a very nice Marantz PM-5 integrated Amp.

I had a PM4 before but sold it because it sounded a little dull.
But this one is a different story!!
Recapped with Rubycon Cap's
I checked the solderings and resoldered some.
One transistor was defect on the pre-driver board and that is about it.

Hooked it on my multimeter............yup DC-offset is ok.

Music; This baby play's some good music with; width,depth and smooth silky high's. nice tight bass too!!

Yup i am happy with this score!!!

Are there any of you that also own a PM-5?

Thats a hard to find collectors item, love the "quater A" function ... Grats! :thmbsp:

I swapped it with a friend of mine against something else.

Quarter A came about 4 years later.

This one is switchable to Class A (or AB)

Ok..swapping is nice, when both ppl gain from the trade ;)

Yes that is true, the later models is not as good as your PM5, the switch lowers the voltage and raise the idle current..., the PM5 unit becomes a true "Class A" amplifire and deliever approx. 1/4 amount of the Watt output of the "Class AB" mode :smoke:
