I still use Spotify, but want to migrate off to a higher res platform, but on family plan so it’s not so easy. Play lists, etc…it’s bigger than just me.
Tried DJ tonight while listening to John Coltrane. No offense intended, but I really don’t want a hip/slang sounding DJ with my Coltrane. If you could choose DJ voices/styles “maybe” it’d be interesting for awhile. Not (currently) geared toward a jazz listening 6X year old fart.
Honestly, I jump all over the place, rock, jazz, blues, some country, but I never venture into the style of music that this DJ’s voice tends to be geared toward. Offensive? no, but just a little grating (for this geaser). Their target market? Nope…but I do pay the bill, and am definitely the biggest user of the family. Reminds me of listening to XM radio. 4-5 songs, then a short history intro by the AI DJ for the next song/set.
When I pick a genre, I typically stick with it for my listening session/mood. This thing just seems to cross over somewhat incompatible genres, creating odd mixes. I know I’m an eclectic listener, but I don’t want to listen to my entire mixed library, all in one listening session. Pick one, and stick to it please. Maybe I’ll check back in a few months (or not), but not currently very impressed. But again, I know I’m not their target market for this.
I bet that this type of thing will be a further death-nail to the traditional DJ though (if there are any left). It’s pretty slick, and it’s only the very beginning. AI is some scary sh&t in my book…but I’m old…
