New sub! New sub!

So, I grabbed a new toy today. An SVS sub, model SB12-NSD for $400 new on sale. It's literally a couple of hours old and not broken in yet, but already is awesome. It's replacing 2 10" ported subs at 100watts each. I'm not going to say it's louder than the 2 subs I had, but it's loud enough, and much cleaner and more accurate. It's a 12" 400 watt sub in a sealed box. I'm using it for hi-res stereo and surround and for music you can't beat it for the price. Blends beautifully with the rest of my system. This is my 4th sub and by far the best I've owned. Next closest is my Velodyne 12" servo and that's great too, but it can bottom out at extreme volumes, the SVS is designed not to and the design works. It's pretty small considering at about 14" square. Honestly, I wish the box was a tiny bit bigger because I think the deeper stuff might be more pronounced, but it's pretty awesome for the price. After a break in period I'll have a better idea, and I will seek out some really bassy material to help me judge, but so far it's really a great sub, and tiny.

Thanks. I'm on a budget but I feel like I got a nice value. This summer I plan to remodel my partially finished basement room that I use as a man cave. I wanted to get my basic system configuration in place first. The sub could go back for a full refund for 14 days so I thought, try it and see. Seems like a keeper so far, does great job, digs deep, stays tight.
