Whether they are better speakers largely depends on who is answering the question,as that sorta thing is entirely based on personal preference,so as usual YMMV.

That said you surely could do a lot worse than those JBL LX-55's,they're a d@mn fine sounding speaker IMHO.

I have LX-22 & LX-44 and I love them,would pull the trigger on a pair of LX-55 w/o hesitation if the price were right and they were in decent shape.

Speakers are not called the most important link in the chain for no reason. By the way, you have a receiver that can deal with most speakers, so well done there!

I love vintage Polks. The Monitor 10 are a fine example. You did good.
