Hello all,
I recently purchased two DBX devices, a DBX 200 Program Route Selector and a DBX 224 Tape Noise Reduction System, I'm currently waiting for them to arrive from the States. Before the purchase I never heard of DBX.
So, why did I buy these units.
About three months ago I purchased two vintage tape decks, a Pioneer RT-707 and a Pioneer CT-F1000 both work well and recording and playback is excellent. I later added a Pioneer CT-W208 R dual cassette recorder.
I then started a search for some kind of switching device so I can switch between the tape decks and connect to my HiFi. I found the DBX 200, which looked like just what I needed and at an affordable price ($45.00). During my search I came across the DBX 224 ($60) and thought maybe this might give me better recordings when taping off vinyl records and playing them back.
As for the DBX 200 I'm sure this was a good purchase and will satisfy my requirements. As for the DBX 224 I'm not sure if using it for recording vinyl records will give me better tape recordings or if I have purchased something that is not really that useful. I know I can use it to playback DBX LPs, though it appears there are not many out there and some are quite expensive. At the time of purchase it looked like something I could use.
I have been purchasing used LPs from charity shops, mostly classical music, some are in excellent condition, and with a disc cleaner, exhibit very little noise (pop and clicks, etc.). I'm thinking the DBX 224 would help further in noise reduction when recording them.
I'd like to get comments on this DBX 224 and using it with my tape decks?
Also, are there other DBX equipment that could prove useful with my set-up?
I don't do live recordings or plan to do so, so much of what DBX manufactures is not useful to me.
