New to me Almarro A205A ;^)

Recycle belly button lint!
Just arrived this morning, thank's Nate!

Sounded good with the tubes that came with it, Tele 12AX7 & Ruskie EL84s, so I decided to try some different tubes - a pair of NOS Mullard 7189s, fresh outta the box, and a long gray plate square getter Amperex.

My goodness! Only 5 watts but what a 5 watts. Can't wait to try it through my Valencias,.

Going to be the perfect amp for rolling tubes.:D

Cheers

That's a sweet amp; I've been driving one daily for about 4 years now and really love it.

As to tube rolling, well with 3 tubes it's about as easy as it gets. One hint I got from Kegger and it seems to bear out to me is that the 12AX7 tube impacts your sound more than the two 6BQ5s, so you may want to try a few variants there. I actually settled on an RCA triple mica black plate 5751 and notice no lack of gain even though it is rated lower than a 12AX7.

Telefunkens are usually referred to as being a bit bright and edgy, compared to others, but with Valencias, you may find the extra up top appropriate. I didn't like one on my LaScalas and rolled in some Bugle Boys, Mullards and Tung Sold before I settled on the 5751.

Have fun and enjoy that sweet 6BQ5 midrange; should be wonderful on the Valencias!!

Will be interesting seeing if there is much difference between some quite different EL84s.

I've got a few 12AX7/5751s to try out as well.

The Amperex long gray plate, d getter, is sounding good. :D
