New to vintage audio in MPLS MN

UPDATE: GOT IMAGES TO WORK!

Hey all,

Thought I would take a moment to introduce myself! My name is Jon. I am an automotive technician by trade. I live in Minneapolis, and in just the past 6 months I’ve entered into the world of vintage audio equipment. I LOVE the mid-century aesthetic, and vintage audio fits with that beautifully :)

Current setup is an inexpensive 70s Monteverdi receiver coupled to a pair of Sansui SP-1200s and a Bluetooth adapter...I run only digital music (please don’t crucify me) bc I’ve never owned records and don’t intend to start down that $$$$ path now.

I also JUST purchased a Marantz 2220B that I am SO EXCITED to pick up! This will be my primary rig. Might try to resell the Monteverdi or fix its static-y left channel...dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I opened it once & was overwhelmed lol.

I also have a gorgeous 70s Zenith stereo console that I craigslisted for a song... it doesn’t have its receiver anymore, so my plan is to try to hook its speakers up as a “B” set...I will be gutting the radio unit & turntable regardless to put a bar in the center of it.

(The photos of the receivers are my actual units, the photos of the SP-1200s and Zenith console are not my images but are exactly what I own)

Thanks all for this resource! I already have found a PDF copy of the manual for my SP-1200s on here; I have many questions to come & hope to be able to gain a better understanding of the internal workings of my audio equipment.

Welcome and enjoy!! I am 100% digital and proud of it. Many here are also - along with a mixture. Pics didn't work.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I've finally figured out how to correctly do the hokey-pokey and get my pics from Google Photos to upload on here...about 5 steps involved. How annoying. Yay technology!

Welcome! Does your Zenith console have the 3 doors over the speakers like shown or 4 doors? The higher end models have 4. There are a couple of Zenith console tuners on eBay, but it depends on what you have.

Thanks for the welcome!

Mine is exactly as pictured (tho that is not a picture of mine). I’ve seen the nicer ones also have an integrated wood handle for the louvres/“doors” and also have beautiful, carved feet.

It definitely would be neat to find the correct receiver to go into this one, but honestly the wires & electronics all seem to be in fairly poor condition (to my untrained eye), and again, I’d like to gut the middle for a bar, and try to wire the integrated drivers up as a “B” set for my Marantz
