Tape with a passion
Hello R2R maniacs :D

Here's my new toy. It's currently burried somewhere in UK, waiting for delivery to my place.

Pictures were taken by it's owner but they are from the real thing.

I predict a lot of fun restoring it.

I've been trying to get more into tape again, along with live recording. Gotta get the Crown CX-844 and Ampex 440B full track mono decks back into service, but my Technics RS-1500 and Otari MX-5050 sure sound nice.

It's going to be tough going on your morning run with THAT strapped to your back!!

VERY NICE!!!! Have fun bringing it up to spec!

Gorgeous! I was looking at one just the other day! Maybe one day I will a Studer. Enjoy it.

Hi,

I will keep this thread updated with pictures of restoration and tune-up progress.

While I'm awaiting impatiently the B67 I am currently finishing the thorough restoration of another good ole A77 which suffered lack of tender care in it's past life.

Today's uppdate.

The Studer B67 has landed on my doorstep. At first sight what pops to mind is "Where's the gun turret ?".

Right after that thought you have to deal with an unusual issue with a tapedeck : trying to move it to its location. This only takes two persons. Oh boy, that machine wheighs a ton.

Now, a good surprise when discovering the undies : I have got STUDER butterfly heads  and the best part of it, they are spanking new ! Thanks to the British Broadcasting Corporation, this tape recorder has been pampered.

Some pictures for your pleasure.

The butterfly heads :

It's here!

WOW!

Not just the 'mother' but ....The 'Grandmother'... of all reel to reels!

SWEET! :D

Plus the heads look to be in excellent shape, way to go!:thmbsp:

Hello friend !

Another picture of the B67 (and one of our cats). I still have to install the pedestal.

Congratulations on that deck -

I heard people say nice things about those "Schmetterling kopf's" - never heard them myself.

Strange things about them cats :) They have a way of sneaking into pictures - I had a cat that could imitate a piece of china, and sit absolutely still for hours, even on loud speaking speakers ....
