Well, buying used is risky, but they do not make these TTs now adays. Fortunately, this 401 has excellent bearings and appears in good condition. Off to a custom plinth & Jelco 750L (12"). Any second thoughts on the tone arm? Cartridge is Denon DL 301 MKII using a Denon AU-340 with super permalloy core transformers and upgraded wiring.

That's a very good tonearm, Jelco 750L for the money.:yes:

If your going to use the DL-301 MKII in that arm, I would get a very light headshell. That's a high compliance cartridge around 22. The DL-103 or DL-103R would be a much better match, low compliance.

I would love to see it when it's all put together.:smoke:

Should I back off to a Jelco 10"? I really like the cartridge & had a bad sonic experience with a new in box Denon DL-103 (not R series).

What arm did you have the DL-103 on?

I wouldn't back off, that's a really nice arm! Like I said just get a lightweight headshell. They sell them all over.

Sony PUA-7. DL-301 MKII works great on PUA-7 and tracks the worst warped records.

The Jelco head shell is 14 grams. Is 11 gram head shell ok or even lighter required?
