Looking for a turntable I found a few I would like to add to my collection, can only get one of them and they're a few hours drive in either direction....

Kenwood KD700D
Thorens TD-321 with SME 3009 IIIs arm
Denon DP51
Beogram 8000
Technics SL1310
Sony PS-X7
Sony PS-B80
Pioneer PL-510
Yamaha PX-3

All in the same pricerange of about 500 euro. Any good in there? Thank you guys!

I'm not sure about the tables, but the SME arm alone frequently sells in the price range you mention. It's a very good arm.

You will need a fairly high compliance cartridge unless it has the optional damping trough. With the trough, the range of cartridges is greatly expanded.

I'd go for the Thorens. The Kenwood is pretty sweet, too. The Technics would be a nice unit also. The Pioneer is nice but predates quartz lock, whether or not that's an issue is up to you. The Denon is sexy but borderlines on fluff over substance and probably is full of unobtanium IC's. The Yamaha, a linear tracker, falls in this category as far as I would be concerned also. Both Sony tables are nice, but again the complexity of the B80 would put me off. Not a fan of B&O gear.

Thank you for the inputs!
Leaves me with the Yamah, Kenwood, Thorens or Technics.
others not being worth the money after further research and capabilities of the first 4.
I often read the Yamaha linear tracker is qualitywise a notch above the other remainers, just can't find that much info about the Thorens and Kenwood. Where do they stand when compared to other TT's from Thorens and Kenwood? Know the Technics as I owned one before and liked it a lot!

Linear trackers which accept standard 1/2" cartridges aren't exactly plentiful, and as far as I recall, the Yamaha is often mentioned as being among the best of these types.

If this is a 2nd (or 3rd, 4th, etc.) turntable, I would suggest that one if it is in good shape and running flawlessly. I have a 1/2" mount linear tracking table and love it. If something goes wrong, it is not as easily serviceable, but I don't think that should dissaude someone from owning one.

I'd go for the yamaha or the sony PS-B80 if the complex electronics are all functioning. Mainly because tech that advanced will probably never be in a TT again.

Just made a few calls,
the yamaha comes without headshell -.-
the sony ps-b80 has a defect in arm mechanism (to much pressure) and the needlecleaner keeps spinning
The kenwood element needs to be replaced
Denon dp51 comes with a new denon 303 element and is fully functioning, though the lit has turned yellow (due to UV I guess)
Thorens has found a new owner allready...

500 euro for the Technics SL1310? I think thats a bit high for a table of that pedigree. Of course prices are different overseas, but in the US the table isn't worth over $300 USD.

Get the Yamaha and a nice cartridge (I think you are calling them 'elements') and headshell. The original Yamaha looks to be made of aluminum and weighs 8 grams, which is pretty close to the Technics' 7.5g (if I'm not mistaken).

Yeah meant cartridge, my bad for not translating the Dutch words. Will have a look at the Kenwood, Thorens and Yamaha next weekend.
Thank you all for your effort, I will keep you up to date!
