I've lurked on this site for a few months now, so I figured I'd make an account. Anyway.. hello everyone! My name is Jared and I've recently got a complete stereo set up and although it's not where I want it to be, coherent noise is being produced!
I've wanted to get a more vintage style stereo set up for a while, and my Dad gave me his old Kenwood KA-7100 amp and KT-7500 tuner, along with his old pair of JBL Decade L-26's. Great stuff, except that they've sat for decades and do not work (although they still light up). The speaker cabinets are in real rough shape (water damage) so who knows what I'm gonna do with them.
After that I bought an old ELAC Miracord 770H turntable from an old veteran, and had it restored. That cost me some money! I've had to sell a couple instruments to balance the budget for that lol. Then I got a fair deal on a pair of those Pioneer Andrew Jones BS22's. And finally, to complete it for now, I got a used Technics SU-G50 integrated amp and SH-8017 EQ.
Basically, I have an early 70's turntable going into an early 90's amp, going to early 2010's speakers. All sitting on the old JBL's covered up by a plaid table cloth. Not pretty, but hey, it works for now.
I hope to learn how to diagnose the Kenwood amp and tuner and fix them up, and maybe salvage the woofer and tweeters from the L26's and build new cabinets for them. Did I mention I have a kid on the way?? Who am I kidding...
Anyway, it seems there's a ton of knowledge on these forums so I'm excited to dive into this new hobby.
Thanks,
Jared

Great to have another local AK-er!
