Newbe questions about Chronecast, amazon fire

My wife bought a chromecast dongle. She got it up and running. I would like to stream movies and TV through the device. I figured Google TV would be a good place to start. But I see its going to cost extra money to watch anything. Is there a subscription that I can pay once and then watch as much as I want?

I'm interested in Amazon Prime. If I subscribe to that and buy a Amazon Fire can I actually get Movies and TV for no additional charge other than the yearly fee for prime?

I'm an audio guy and all this video stuff really has me puzzled.

You can cast from your computer. Or better get Plex application and use these instructions https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201206866-Cast-from-Browser-or-Desktop

Amazon Prime is well worth the cost, there are tons of TV shows and movies available for just the yearly cost of the subscription, however the newer shows and movies do cost extra to buy or rent.

Netflix is another good choice, they often have whatever Amazon doesn't and vice versa.

Everything on Netflix is covered in the subscription cost, however they do have a separate DVD subscription and not everything on DVD is available to stream.

Between these two I never lack for something to watch.
