Newbie - Advice on setup Bose 901 series IV

Hello everyone, I'm quite new to the universe of audio. I recently got from my father 2x Bose 901 series IV with a Bose 901 series VI equalizer. It's coupled with an amp F606ES and a marantz cd player cd5000. Where I should improve the setup while keeping the speakers? Is it a problem that the equalizer and the speakers are from different generations? Should I buy the series IV equalizer ? It seems to work at the moment‍♂️

Greetings,
Joffrey

Certain generations of equalizers are more compatible than others but I don't have particulars except to say you should have the right equalizer for the series of speakers. What I do know about placement, setup, is it's best to follow the owners manual for best results. They have it worked out, figured into their design. They'll be good anyway, experiment but at least read the manual. Properly set up they can be quite pleasing.

I think you should live with things as they are and see if you can actually identify something you don't like. Then think about changing things.

The equalizers are generally series 1&2 compatible, series 3&4 and then series 5&6.

You'll be fine with a series VI eq with your series IV speakers until you get serious. There are minor differences but not something that makes one not work for the speakers.

Work on set up of the speakers and positioning them properly to get good sound is what I would recommend.

That's not ideal. The EQs were quite specific to each series. You can get a 3rd party unit from Deer Creek if you can't find a genuine Bose. Maybe you could sell yours on Ebay - - people are always looking to buy them. I think you will enjoy the speakers more with the correct unit.

I think I could manage to get a serie IV equalizer, but is it going to be compatible with the amp like the series VI?

Thank you for the suggestion to visit Deer Creek. Great information.
