Newbie to eBay and PayPal. Need advice

So the guy in LA received his item without damage! I’m very happy about that.

However I haven’t yet received my item that I purchased from Japan. So I requested a refund today. Now I have to wait until Nov 22 to involve eBay.

Interestingly, the eBay seller has many positive feedback over the last month, but only on small ticket items. There have been a number of refunds also during the last month, including one yesterday, all on more expensive items. Plus, the seller’s store has been placed into vacation mode.

I was looking at my credit card statement today, and the charge was from PayPal, so it looks like I’m also covered that way.

I’m on my way to ship the item I sold to the guy in LA. The one who purchased the item through PayPal friends and family. He wanted me to wait until today to ship it. I’m going to ask him to take pictures for me as he got the box and as he unpacks. I’m always looking to get an idea of how things arrive so I can learn from it.

The last few items I purchased on ebay, upon arrival I took several pictures of the package and the interior packing as I removed it.

That is good advice.

All in all, this is looking pretty squirrelly to me. I don’t have much confidence I will get it, as I’ve never received a shipping tracking number. However, if I do, I’m wondering if maybe a video would be a better choice. The unwrapping... to dramatic 50s music!

On a more positive not, I picked up 6 very nice classical LPs today at Value Village. And last week, I picked up the Kinks - State of Confusion. That one is a gem.

Looks like you are covered so hopefully if it does not pan out the refund is easy going.

Thanks! Yes, I think I’m well covered, and as soon as I’m confident I’m getting the money, I’m pulling the trigger on a replacement for it. I actually put together a spreadsheet so I can easily compare the different options between one and another, so they are all on an even playing field.

On Monday, I requested the seller refund my purchase price as there was nothing shipped to me and there was no response. On Friday morning, I requested eBay intervene as my item was never shipped and the seller did not respond to my refund request. Incidentally, they no longer have an active account on eBay. Now I wait.

It sucks, but it sounds like you should get your money back.

Oh yes! Do not follow your frustrations and go with your better instinct on these types of purchases. Plus I know a lot more about eBay than I did before.

I was just notified this afternoon that I have been refunded the full purchase price plus shipping. Reason: Seller never provided a valid shipping tracking number.

And I was notified that the replacement unit I purchased yesterday morning was shipped last night, and i was provided the tracking number and a notification of receipt from Fedex. Expected arrival on Thursday.
