Newer Marantz

I put this on the Marantz section but no one replied so I thought I would try here. My friend has some newer Marantz stereo, cd player, cassette deck and turntable. don't know the actual year yet but he thinks from 2003 to 2006 date of manufacture. I never had any Marantz equipment before so I was wondering, if they are of good quality that I heard the vintage stuff is. By the way he is giving it to me free!!!!

Thanks sqlsavior for your reply I'm looking forward to getting them. I won't get them till he visits in July but I'm fine with that, he is going to send me some pic's

I have a PM6010OSE KI ,a CD6000 OSE LE and a ST6000, they seem rock solid, the amp had a dirty switch issue and one of my CD6000 CD players failed I think due to glue around the caps becoming conductive.

Sound wise the PM6010 sounds quite cold, quite clinical but that may be because of the rest of my system like speaker cables and speakers. That being said it does make a lovely noise. I was expecting a warm sound but didn't get it. I'm still very happy with how it sounds.

Aesthetically they look good, black aluminium faces, the switches and knobs feel solid, CD drawer is smooth, they do look quite impressive but subtle at the same time.

With prices what they are for KI stuff you do get a lot of bang for your bucks. I don't feel the need to be upgrading any time soon.

Lounge room,
SR 7002, AV receiver
great performer, nothing to criticize at all.

Main rig,
SM 17, power amp
an absolute power house, never left me wanting.

I'm sure you'll be happy with your setup.

That era of Marantz has usually been very nice equipment. Usually very fine sounding, and among the better of it's class. Usually excellent reliability as well. Don't see very many of them for servicing.
