Newport Jazz Festival 2009 Live Feed from NPR

Last weekend NPR Music had incredible coverage (live feeds, chat, blogs and podcasts) from the Newport Folk Festival. There is a great archive of current and past podcast concerts at the NPR Music website.

http://www.npr.org/music/

Newport Folk archived concerts (streaming, download, podcast): http://www.npr.org/music/newportfolk/index2.html You just have to find someone in the list on the left of the page that you'll like!

Archived concerts of other past performances: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=15681603&ps=mpm

If that wasn't enough, this weekend is the Newport Jazz Festival and there are periodic Live Feeds here: http://www.npr.org/music/newportjazz/index2.html

Free music sampler downloads: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106427862

NPR's Bob Boillen has done an incredible job (along with NPR contributors and other staff members) to put together an excellent website and program (All Songs Considered) with Tiny Desk Concert videos, live concerts and radio programs on new music.

Have Fun!

Listen live today from 12-6 at the link above and there are already concerts from yesterday to download. I listened to a couple of the folk concerts yesterday (from last weekend...not your mother and father's folk!) while doing chores around the house--nice quality recordings!

If you have never been to Newport, I can only say...GO, whether for the sailboats, the cliff walk, the mansions, the music, the tennis hall of fame, some great restaurants. Yes, during the summer it's a bit of a tourist trap, but what a beautiful setting for great music. A dear friend of mine attended the Folk Festival last weekend (the rat-bag! :D ) and he had a great day with his family...I was officially jealous :D
