Next-best thing for tracking weight and anti-skate?

I recently fitted a Shure M97xe cartridge to my Thorens TD165. Shure recommends a tracking weight of 1.75 g with the stabilizer brush down. Unfortunately, the TD165 has no setting on its anti-skate for 1.75 g.

Would it be better to set the tracking weight and anti-skate both to 2 g? Or 1.5 g?

Or perhaps I should set the tracking weight to 1.75 g and the anti-skate to 2g? Or 1.5 g? The anti-skate would thus be off by 0.25 g, I don't know if this is a big deal or not.

Thanks for all the help, vinyl can be confusing sometimes but I love it.

I set my M97xE to 1.75 vtf with the brush down and set anti-skate to 1.25. There are those on this site, many of whom are quite learned audiophiles, who disagree with me. On the other hand, anti-skate settings are generally a crap shoot and, on most turntables, imprecise. Many on here set anti-skate by ear, not by number. If you'd rather use a specific setting I would try 1, 1.5 and 2 and pick the one that sounds best to you.

Good luck and welcome to AK!

I would just err a little on the low side with anti-skate as compared to tracking force, unless you want to try to set it by ear.
