NHT speaker help needed

Thanks for the response. I haven't gotten too far in my search, I've got too many projects and too little cash. There's no data on this driver on the data sheet. I'm going to try calling the factory (NHT) and see if I can find someone who knows something about these speakers. I've been watching e-pray, but nothing has come up. The search will continue.

I noticed a few speakers on Ebay that contain the 6.5" woofers you are looking for. Hope this helps!

(BTW- It's the Acoustic Research AR-218v that has a similar 6.5" woofer, not the AR-18.)

never heard of the 218b. must be after my time, or something. you'll have to take an educated guess about its woofers' appearance, crossover, enclosure volume, etc.

If you point me to a very specific spec sheet and photo of the product, (not web chatter...), I will offer my input.

I have two of those.. send me a PM with your mailing address and they are your's, gratis! I'll send ya the woofers, the tweets are destroyed. When Ken mentioned the model, I thought it sounded familiar! DUH! Let me know... It's weird but I'm pumped to hear your verdict on the finished speakers, I think they will sing very sweet songs! (And yes that was the price I paid for the pair.)

They are dusty, but functional. The pictures are for future reference for whomever may be looking... and a bit of a teaser! Apparently one of the cabinets was also a candle holder (at least once). :)

I got your PM.Thanks for the offer,I'd like to at least pay for shipping. Mailing address has been sent. I'm excited to get these up and going again, they call to me every time I go into the Dan-cave. The cabinets are in like new condition and have a decidedly classy look to them. I got the SW-1 also, which should fill in the bottom that the 1As might be lacking.

I had a pair of these a while back, IIRC they were the first speakers I refoamed myself. Worked pretty well. I have a thread on them here somewhere. Ken said at the time that he doubted new foam would exactly match the originals. I'm sure he's right, but they did sound OK to my non-picky ears. ;) Looked pretty good, too.

I take it that you don't have them any more. Did you use a sub woofer with them or do you recall them having enough bottom end?
 
Didn't have them for long. I like to refurbish and package thrift finds into complete matching systems to sell on CL. These made for a pretty decent secondary system with the low-powered Pioneer amp. Buyer was pretty happy. A little NAD receiver would have been ideal with these.

Off topic but, Songs for Swingin' Lovers is from what I consider the period that Frank's voice was at it's peak. Great album. Sorry, just had to throw that out.

Don't worry about the postage, Fedex and me are good buddies! :) If you feel like it, toss a few bucks to Audiokarma... The guys on the forums have helped me out with info I could find nowhere else... like finding out an AR woofer will work on an NHT product. I found a "drop in" match for my Velodyne sub from information here. And all I had to do was read (gladly). I'll get them packed today, I am a bit fussy when it comes to packing. They will head-out Monday :) Glad to help out on a worthy project! Now it's up to you to enjoy the music! :)

I'm back home and to my delight there was a package on the front porch from my new best-friend-for-life Mysteried. I greatly appreciate the help for those who responded, in particular Ken who set this search on the right path. I am grateful to Herb who sent a pair of replacement woofers at no charge, not even for shipping costs. Most wondrous Karma.

Looks great,but sounds much better. I got the woofs installed in the cabs and at first blush sound very good in the man cave. The real test will be in the living room, but first...... NHT speaker help Part Deux.
