NHT SW1/SA1 sub amp question

Hello, sorry if this is the wrong sub, I just purchased an NHT SW1 sub and SA1 amplifier. I know you are supposed use them with an amplifier, which I am planning on purchasing later, but I'd like to know if I could run some small bookshelf speakers (any suggestions on which speakers to pair with the sub would be great too) with just the SA1, with or without the sub. I don't see a lot of talk about NHT stuff plus I am fairly new to this stuff so any info you guys might have would be awesome. Also, my input is my TV using a 3.5mm to RCA cable. Thanks!

No, you cannot use the SA1 to power a pair of stereo speakers. The SA1 is used to power the SW1 subwoofer. For speakers consider a pair of NHT SuperZeros.

And that is a very nice little powered sub combo to use with smaller speakers.

I had a Marantz 4300 from EW's bench. Ran a pair of Minimus 7s and the NHT sub. Once I got it dialed in, a bit, it sounded better than I thought it had any right to sound. The sub didn't get to stay, my house was only a stopover, but I would have enjoyed setting up a system with it.

4300 >> Min7, and SA1 pushing the SW1.

Maybe one will come around again.

Thanks for the advice guys i'm gonna try and get my hands on some SuperOne's. Any opinions on the SB series of NHT speakers? Those seem to be more common in my area. I have a technics sa 202 that I haven't been using, might use that to push some crappy KLH's and the sub combo for now.

I haven't heard any of the SBx models. But I suspect that they were just slight tweaks of the Zeros, Ones, etc. They should be good.
