Nice review on the Larsen Model 8 speaker...

I have the baby brother, the Model 4, nice small speaker that plays well above its diminutive size. Easy to place wall boundary speaker, and an excellent option for those that can't afford Shahinian's or the likes.

Nice to see a review from the USA on this Swedish speaker, hopefully the brand will grow stronger here. See review here: http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue69/larsen8.htm

I will also put a shameless plug in for the distributor, Audio Skies, Michael Vamos is a very good guy to deal with. Tim

PS-no affiliation with Audio Skies/Larsen, just a happy owner-user!

Very nice review. I was just a tad concerned about what he said about timing as that is very important to me. Not at the expense of listenability, however if I can't have both then I'll keep looking. That is the conundrum of my preferences, tough to balance. All in all the Larsen's sound like a must listen for folks shopping in that price range. Well done.

Totally understand that Art, what is good is that my Naim obviously does the timing thing well, so I feel on my Model 4's I do not lose any of that aspect at all. Also, the Larsen and its presentation is just a very different thing, not everyone's cup of tea needless to say. But if one is into the omni presentation, this is a very good option. The Model 8 is a bit expensive for my wallet though, so will be staying with my 4's as well as the Obelisks, best of the omni world without going crazy money like MBLs or the likes. Glad you are enjoying your Spendors! Tim

What I really like about my Larsen Model 4's, even though they go hard up against the wall, they are one of the few wall boundary type of speaker that doesn't seem to lack in "depth" of soundstage. Not sure how it works, but it does and works very well.

I rotate in my Shahinian Obelisks every now and then too, and the Larsen doesn't give up much overall to the Obs, for a LOT less money than the Obs command. I still love them both equally. If you ever get the opportunity to hear either one of these speakers, give them a try. Tim
