Here we go again. What is your favorite Kenwood tuner and integrated amp? I am so impressed with my lowly 5700 amp I want to audition some more kennys.

Out of the KA-x100 series, its the 8100. No meters like the lower end 6100, but the output is all discrete unlike the TOTL 9100.

As for tuners, the KT-9900 is an insanely nice one. I have the 7500 and its NO slouch either!

I think my 9100 is the cat's meow but, you'd have to pry my 3500 out of my cold, dead, hands. I bought the 3500 new in '77, (9100 a few years ago off the bay) and it has never let me down.

I'll agree on the 8100... the 7100 is nice as well.

The 9100 is mighty fine.

Course there is the KA-907.

There's the KA-8006 as well.

It's all good!

....yeah I like the KT-7500 also....
hey Scott, shouldn't you be hitting the thrift stores or something??

I have a KT-9900 in my main system, and a KT-8007 in one of the basement systems. Both are locked onto a local FM station which plays uncompressed jazz + blues, both incredibly nice sounding tuners in my book . :music: :thmbsp:

whats the nicest ka hmmm i dunno.i do happen to like the one in my avatar pic.its a ka-3700 its not a power house, but it sounds good.i know the thing would be easy to work on to its stupid simple inside.:D

I owned two KA-5700s, and loved them. dug the cool little meters.

Also owned two 7100s. Loved the recessed, sunken bezel.

I'd personally go for a bit more power over the base 5700, say the 6100- and retain the meters.

I'd also go for the sexy 7100 with that great design of the sunken recessed center knob, over the slightly more powerful 8100.

The 9100 is a sweet amp, but difficulties scoring parts for it would steer me away. Even though there's supposedly bypassing techniques and fix-arounds.

I also owned a 5500, 6500 and 7500 tuner. Size-wise, the smaller tuners fit well with the vintage gear. But that 7500 tuner was a killer performer.

I had the wood cases for a few of them. Didn't really like them. I've seen the wood sideburns and like them better, as well as the nicely designed rack handles.

I once owned a KA-907. Best kenny I´ve ever heard.

Now I own a rather good KA-8100 and KT-8300 in my bedroom system. Love them both.

I have a Ka-9100 and Kt-7500. Both were my mom's. She bought them brand new back in 1979. The amp has had little problem with the left channal going out a few minutes after start up, but after I flip a switch the channal comes back and it will play great for hours on end. I don't know why it still does it because I cleaned it with deoxit 3 TIMES and the left channal will still go out a few minutes after start up. I guess it just needs to warm up or something. Anyway, this amp will rock the house. It even came with a veneer were I can put the amp on the bottom and the tuner on the top.

Hello
I dont have a KA but I want one. Im thinking KA7100 or 8100.
I have had a KT-7300 and loved it, sold that and got a KT-8300, this is one of the best tuners I have ever had. I know this might get stuff stirred up but I don't think it has to take a back seat to my Mac MR71 (sold in a moment of stupidity) or Accuphase T100. The KT-8300 is still top of the heap. Id have to say its as good as the Accuphase.

Have you cleaned the "separate/connected" switch on the back? Those are notorious for causing problems on the KA-9100.

I picked up a used 9100 when I was in college. Like an idiot, I traded it in about a year later for a much lower powered, but NEW NAD 3020. :saywhat:The only good news about that transaction is that I still have the NAD and now the kids use it in the game/computer room. :music:
I did find a 5700 a few years ago. I think I bought it because it reminded me of the old 9100 a bit. the 5700 has been seeing quite a bit of use the past few weeks...and I have a new found respect for it. This, just when I am thinking I need to thin the herd:headscrat

I have a KA 405 that I've had for a little over 10 years. Its been basicly trouble free since I've owned it and I love those meters. I'd like to put my hands on a KA 6100 or a KA 8100. I Hope to in the near future.

My vote goes for the KA-907 because I know it was the top of the line when it was built. I have a KA-8150 and that is a sweet amp, drives any speakers well and sounds great doing it. I also have the matching KT-7550, a good tuner, as has been mentioned.

Since the OP asked "What is your favorite Kenwwod tuner and integrated amp?", I'll have to say my Supreme 500 is my favorite. It does everything so good. :thmbsp:

I was waiting for someone to mention the KA-405. Possibly the most active analog meters ive seen. Sounds nice and isnt huge like most 65 WPC amps.

I had a Ka-907 for about 10 years - I dont know what possessed me to sell it - ran it with a pair of DQ-10s and it made beautiful music with a soundstage to die for...also had a kt-5020 tuner - small unassuming black faced tuner that was a true sleeper...

I did not think of cleaning that switch. Do I just take off the screws on the back and the pannel will come off so I can clean it?
