NIchicon Capacitor Question

The Nichicon caps series FG/FX/FW are all listed as the MUSE series. THey seem to be really inexpensive. I thought the MUSE caps were supposed to be one of the pricier boutique types of caps ala Blackgate, Elna Cerafine and such. I'm using the PW series for the power boards and the FW in the signal paths, although I had to substitute some KT because they didn't have them in the FW. Also, would it be preferable to say go to a higher voltage in order to stay with the same series. Thanks for any feedback on this question. This is a learning experience for me

The Elna Cerafine/Elna for Audio caps are really no more expensive. I've never played with Black Gate, so I cannot comment.

Upgrading the voltage spec by a level or two generally will do nothing negative in term of sound or performance. Sometimes it may be an issue of what physically fits into the space, or the lead spacing.

For my purposes, I generally use Nichicon's PM line for power caps and FG line for audio signal path, in a solid-state amp.

Thanks for the feedback. I am collecting the parts for an upgrade of a really nice little 1060 integrated that I've had for a while. Although it sounds nice now, I'm doing it more for reliability as I don't want to see this nice amp damaged do to old caps. I already have the three big caps ordered and waiting delivery. I was prompted to go ahead with this project after reading Echowars very helpful post on the Surplus United Chemicon site. I picked up all three big caps for about 1/4 of the price it would cost to order from Mouser or Digikey. I'm now thinking of using the Elna SilMIc for signal path. Again thanks.
