Nikko Alpha II / Adcom GFA 535

Recently picked up an Adcom GFA 535 for pretty cheap to power my Nikko Beta II pre-amp, which I really like. The Adcom sounds good. There's now, of course, the matching Nikko Alpha II available locally, for about 4x what I paid for the Adcom. Is it worth going for the matching set?

I have a Nikko Beta II preamp myself,and it is my only solid state preamp.In fact,it is the only SS preamp I have ever liked,which is why I have kept it for so long.
The Adcom 535 is a really good little amplifier that has always flown under the radar. They sound great,and easily better most of their specs.
Honestly,as a tech I would prefer the Adcom,and I really wouldn't pay much for an Alpha II.
 
I'm not sure whose radar the 535 ever flew under, but I agree that it's a good little amp with power output belied by the spec-sheet.
