Nikko Alpha II repair help needed!

Hi all! This spring I picked up matching set of silver faceplate Nikko gear for a reasonable price but one channel of the amp makes a loud popping noise every few 5-10 seconds. One local shop was unable to fix the issue and the other is unfamiliar with Nikko gear and won't touch it. I have another Alpha II with one good and one bad channel and need help either repairing one or gutting one and moving the good channel into the other amp. I assume since these amps are a dual mono design that moving the guts of one channel into the other is possible and not too difficult, but I could be wrong. I have no experience in soldering and don't have the tools or know-how to safely test and verify everything is working properly. The shop that was unable to fix it mentioned the safety relay had been bypassed in the bad channel. Please help!

The above. If you have no soldering experience I don't recommend "moving" a channel, as it's not really possible. These are fairly bulletproof amps with not much too them, and they sound great once brought up to spec.
 
Not really new hear, but I'm more of a lurker with a couple purchases. I generally don't have much input in the forums. I am in Des Moines, Iowa. I would have thought swapping the parts from one side of the amp into another would work. Clearly this is not my forte.

The shop that tried to repair it replaced caps and transistors I believe, perhaps not all of them though. I really have no idea what to even look for if replacing those didn't fix it. It would be great if there was someone local that could do the repair, or within a few hours drive so my wife and I could make a weekend getaway out of it.

I'm in Minneapolis. Avionic is in Fort Dodge. There's at least two other members I think in Iowa who are good techs - if they have the time is another question.

Don't take it to SkyLabs...

That was the first place I tried since I couldnt find anything else online. They were unable to fix it but did not charge me for their time so I have no complaints with them. They do seem very proud of their vintage gear though.

I have no issue driving to Fort Dodge or even making a weekend trip to Minneapolis with the wife if one of you wants to take on the repairs. I originally thought I could make a project out of it but never made the time and it seems beyond my abilities anyway.

Those are neat amps, dual mono I believe. I would suggest getting them fixed. Should sound good. I think you found some good help.

Avionic that would be great if you've got the time. I would enjoy spectating and learning also if it isn't going to be a long project. I'm not really in a rush. Private message me if you want to work out details some time.
