Nikko NR-515 Receiver tuning meter lights but doesn't work any thoughts

Here's a old entry level model. I believe it cranks a whopping 15 wpc.
I paid $6.30 for it and besides needing the pots cleaned it works great. However the tuning meter moves not.
I got too many irons in the fire now to monkey with it now but anyone have a suggestions to remedy it. I've already been told a 5lb maul should do it but that came from a buddy who has a quad Marantz for his garage. Yeah he owns a Macintosh too.

Remove the plastic cover from the VU. Apply a small drop of light oil behind the screw (be careful not to dirty the indicator, the front). Slightly turn the flat screw counterclockwise, the needle should peel off and move. Do not unscrew too much.
