Nikko TOTL NR-1415 takes it all off after restore!

Sasklite :-) people will definitely want to see you move forward on yours, you should start a thread .. that picture you emailed was gorgeous!!! all the little findings you are coming up with could be really cool to walk through .. some of the guys here have amazing depth and talent in working with about anything you will run into

Great to see other nikko lovers out there . I have a nikko nr 1415 also but she is having problems I was looking for a service manual anyone have one?
 
NikkoMan I have one I will PM you here in a minute and we will get you set up .. thats a gorgeous piece .. the guy that did mine with me (mostly for me) just finished up a nice Yamaha CR-640 .. thats fun to play with
 
1.5 years later, what a joy to run this thing and my god the compliments i get .. I have a Kenwood 9600 and a Pioneer sx-1250 and this is the gem of the group.
 
I just got a MINT example of this Bad Boy in today. Cost me 800 smackers but so far Im lovin it. Not as "Detailed" in sound as my Luxman R-1120 (Which I highly recommend) but I would put it up against my Multiple SX-1250 or Marantz 2325's for sure. Vocals and Drums (I don't mean BASS Drum) seem more in your face than on the others. Really enjoying it....the experimentation continues.

I can tell you that recapping this thing made big big improvements in sound on my system also beefing up the internal wiring as well was it a bad thing especially since the outputs from the amplifier to the speaker connection posts and back are really thin spaghetti

Do you know if the guy who did your repair is still around? I have a Nikko nr1415 that could use some love.
 
Hi Ronie! WELCOME, wow you got lucky to find one. Mark is in Michigan and still working. Hes not that old he just started very young, id say close to but under 60 if i was guessing. What is going on with your NR-1415? I sent you a direct mail as well by the way.

Main caps seen to have leaked.. it still plays very well.

I'm in New England. NH to be more exact so if anyone know someone in the area or where I can ask I appreciate the help.

you may want to take time to do a tech help post and ask for recommendations on the DIY forum and have a look at who shakes out for sure you will find some help here
 
Big Nikko fan here. My everyday amp is a TRM-750. My everyday tuner is an NT-850. I had an NR-819 receiver that sounded as good as any receiver I've ever heard. I shouldn't have sold it.

Nikko seemed to like tantalum capacitors and VD-1212 diodes, and the foils on their circuit boards seem to lift easier than other brands I've worked on. That's about the worst I can say about their products.

Dave its doing great .. super lucky for me i liked it enough that is saw its "little" 85wpc brother, the NR-1019 showed up last week! .. which seems from all i can tell to be even more rare than the NR-1415, but they both sound so similar the 1415 is much larger and more powerful and has real walnut case so but if anyone sees a 1019 very rare to find in the wild and a great receive, it can run with anything and has great tuner and phono sections . (ps I do not run them with the dust cloth covering them ;-) just for the picture) (View attachment 1856749

Without hijacking my own thread there are some nice monsters out there that people are not going crazy for .. until they have one or hear one, the Scott 390R is one at 120 wpc that look amazing with an led swich out .. have awesome phono sections and 5 gain tuners and a solid quality build inside to. The Niko 1019 and 1219 are awesome too and gorgeous in the night light I hope you get your shot they are much better looking in person than in photos.

What's your take on that big ol Toshiba I spy? ( I have one, but haven't really had an opportunity to see what it's REALLY capable of. Pluggin away at a JCX-2900K Sanyo I just got recently).

like with any vintage equipment you really don't know until it had a quality restore if it is performing as planned or not but i can say this, the interior build and design of the Toshiba puts it in the real sleeper category .. I like th sound better than most any of the monsters I have had (Pioneer SX-1050, 1250, Marantz 2385, Kenwood KR-9600, Optonica SA-5906 and the Rotel RX-1203 and RX-1603) the Big Rotel and the Toshiba are my favorite sounding, the Optonica is maybe the most Neutral and lovely built as well
 
Hey, guys. I have a Nikko NR1415 but the dial glass broke when shipped to me. Do some of the other Nikko use the exact same dial glass? Maybe the NR1015 or NR915?
