Much of her music goes far deeper than any R&R, so not sure she would have cared much about this, but it's nice they finally took notice.

I'm glad to see her get continued recognition for her talents. I think her ambition was to be known as a classical pianist, but life forced her to work in the Jazz genre.

Amen. You know, she was very active in civil rights for a while. Wow! Sinnerman and Mississippi Goddam? Hoo-wee! I remember the first time I heard those two. Here's one pretty good Bio.

Maybe that's mentioned in your link, chicks (sorry, I couldn't open it).

I'm adding Strange Fruit, I Put a Spell on You and my favorite, Go To Hell. An enormous talent.

nina's cover of "my sweet lord' is unforgettable.

I think she would find it odd to be nominated for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Pretty big stretch to consider her rock n roll, no?

Might as well nominate Mingus and Ella while they're at it.

Cheers,
Larry B.

Nina's the bomb!

And I'll add my favorite:

Sweet!

Saw her live in Philly in ? '69. Stunning. Will never forget that experience...musically or socially.
Most of her recordings are very poor compared to that live show...and maybe capture 10% of her talent & musical abilities.
