But, you need an external phono amp between the Turntable and the Receiver. You need RIAA curved gain between the two. There are lots of options. Much discussion here - do some searching. Most TT's that have built in phono pre-amps have skimped on that part of the build. They may be OK for parties and such, but an external unit will be MUCH better
Yeh , i have a denon receiver & i just bought a $55 preamp & go into an "aux" input & it's great , much better than any Modern phono input it would have come with .
I just got a TCC TC-750 to use with an Adcom GTP-550. Plugs into either Tape 1 or Tape 2, or any of the 4 video inputs.
It comes with a RCA-to-Mini plug so you can also use it to record vinyl to CD through your sound card.
You can get an old receiver with a phono input and use it. Just use the "out" for Tape to go into your Sony. This assumes that you can't use the vintage one. Or just get a reasonably good phono-pre-amp to put between the Turntable and any input on the receiver. Are there any decent cheap ones out there? It's cery weird that Sony would produce a stereo receiver (two channel) and NOT include a phono input. What do they think people will use it for? Those wanting the fancy new stuff will only use a multichannel receiver (5.1 etc.) So they have ignored people who really just want regular stereo and many of those would have turntables. The only reasonably priced easily obtainable receivers left with a phono input appear to be Yamaha and Onkyo-I'm sure there are more if you search this forum. Still a stupid thing on Sony's part.
